SteerCode is joining Expo. To make Expo the AI-first mobile app framework.

Over the past year, we set out to build the best AI builder for mobile apps. One that would empower a new generation of mobile app entrepreneurs and creators. In a team of just three people, with no external funding, we created a beautifully crafted product with our custom state-of-the-art AI coding agents for mobile apps, and introduced instant app sharing, making mobile apps easy to share as websites. We're proud of what we achieved in such a tiny team.

On our journey to push the boundaries of what's possible, we explored different mobile frameworks. But Expo was clearly the best and the right choice. So, in order to build beautiful, complex, and production-ready apps entirely by AI coding agents, we had to go deeper into Expo itself.

We reached out to the Expo team with some questions. After a few conversations with them, it became clear that our missions were aligned and we had the same vision for the future of app development: a powerful mobile ecosystem capable of democratizing the creation of mobile apps with better tools, and with AI at the center.

This is the reason why we've joined forces with Expo. Together we will bring that vision to life.

So, what's next for SteerCode?

SteerCode, as you know it, will evolve into Expo's official AI-powered mobile app builder. That is all we can share at this time about what we're building at Expo. Sorry for being vague. This is a super exciting project and we will let everyone know as soon as we have more details to share.

On February 20th we'll begin sunsetting the original SteerCode product. You might be asking: What will happen to my projects in SteerCode? Don't worry, they are not going to disappear. We strongly recommend syncing your projects to GitHub or exporting your codebase before February 20. You can continue your work, all you need to do is create a new profile in the Expo-powered app. You can simply transfer your projects there. You'll be notified about these changes in time. And if you need any help in this period, simply reach out to us on Intercom. You're not being abandoned; you're being upgraded into a bigger ecosystem.

And what will happen with us and our year-long work? Our integration with Expo will result in an AI app dev tool with excellent performance, rich features, and a deep, seamless developer experience backed directly by the Expo team's extensive expertise.

The original mission of SteerCode continues, and it's getting accelerated by Expo.
